The Community has been celebrating CEW annually since 2011, based on a mandate from the 35th Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) on Energy held in Guyana, March 2011. CEW provides a platform for building awareness of sustainable energy issues across various segments of society at the national level.

The CARICOM Secretariat and the Ministry of Energy takes this opportunity to acknowledge his interest in and understanding of sustainable energy development, and encourages his continued interest in the subject area.
