St. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda: On Monday 25thSeptember, Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne returned from the United Nations in New York, where he championed the cause of small island states against the effects of Climate Change following the destruction of Barbuda and Dominica from super hurricanes.
Prime Minister Browne and his wife, Mrs. Maria Bird-Browne received a warm welcome at the V.C. Bird International Airport from friends and well wishers, but it was a letter of gratitude from a nine-year old Barbudan, Alexander DeSouza which brought the Prime Minister and his wife to tears. We reproduce below the text of Alexander’s letter:

Dear Sir,
I would like to thank you for the concern you displayed for the Barbudans before and after the passage of Hurricane Irma.
You gave the order for all of us to evacuate so that we would not be battered by a second storm that was on its way.
We were placed in shelters in Antigua and you asked Antiguans to assist us, which they did. Your act of kindness did not go in vain. We are eternally grateful to you.
Thank you for the wonderful speech you gave at the United Nations concerning global warming and the harmful effects it has on our Caribbean Islands. It was very informative. Indeed you are a great leader.
Thank you Sir for all that you have done once again.
Yours Sincerely,
Alexander DeSouza
