English Harbour, Antigua: Parliamentary Representative for St. Peter’s Constituency Hon. Asot Michael welcome The First ever all black female team “Team Antigua Island Girls” to row across Atlantic. Antigua and Barbuda welcome the Girls with Red Carpet.
About Team Antigua Island Girls:
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is the premier event in ocean rowing. The challenge takes rowers more than 3,000 miles west from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands (28oN 18oW) to Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda (17oN 61oW). The annual race begins in early December, with up to 30 teams participating from around the world.
The team comprises Elvira Bell, Christal Clashing, Samara Emanuel, Kevinia Francis, and Junella King. At the appropriate time, four will be selected as the final team and the other woman, the alternate, will continue to be the face and voice of the team while they are on the ocean.
